Audience building for Books About Town

April 15, 2014 in Content , Design , Quad

If you’ve been following us on Twitter, you may have heard we’re working with Books About Town, a collaboration between the National Literacy Trust and Wild In Art to encourage reading for enjoyment. Based in London, the Books About Town plans include a series of sponsored BookBenches, designed by top artists and celebrating stories linked to the capital. The benches, shaped to resemble open books, will start popping up around London this July.

Books About Town came to Quad Digital looking for a website that communicated its concept. We worked with the project to build something we’re extremely proud of.

What’s more, it’s a great example of one of the first creative steps we take when building audiences for our clients – building an infrastructure.

What you’ll be able to see on the site right now is a project in development; there are still placeholders for benches.  From July, however, it will feature pictures and stories about each of the completed benches in the city. And, at the end of summer, the benches will be auctioned in support of the National Literacy Trust.

Building Books About Town a great website gives the project a head start in building its audience. A web space that communicates its key messages and engages its visitors will create more buzz. It also gives the project’s audience somewhere to live and grow within.

We’re honoured be involved with Books About Town, The National Literacy Trust and Wild In Art to bring this ambitious work to life. And we can’t wait to see the benches around London. If you’re interested in sponsoring a bench, head to the Books About Town site .

Promotion and using influencers to build your audience. The ASA speaks.

A key aspect of the work we do at Quad is driving awareness of our clients’ content and brands. After all, we can publish the best content in the world on their websites and promote it on their social but that’s often seen by just a small section of the potential audience.

That’s where our digital communication and promotion arm comes into play. Quad’s team-within-a-team is dedicated to helping our stories reach as wide an audience as possible, so we can engage more people and bring them to our clients’ owned media. Think of them as a mad hybrid of media buyer, planner, PR person and promotional expert working on the myriad digital platforms that exist.

But that’s all marketing speak.

The end of an era… Why I’m leaving Quad

March 14, 2014 in Editor's Picks , Quad

Today is a big day… it’s the day I announce my retirement from day-to-day duties at Quad. I’ll be remaining involved in a non-executive role, but I’m selling the majority of my shares to my business partner and friend Ben Dickens who’ll be captaining the business going forward.

The TL;DR: I’m wanting to focus on a number of other projects, including the OMN events and Future Voices , that I feel that I can’t give adequate time to whilst remaining involved in client work at Quad .

The long story… Read the rest of this entry →

Rise of the growth hacker

March 11, 2014 in Content , Content Marketing , Editor's Picks

In my last post I referred to a survey that highlighted a skills gap in digital marketing . And while it was commissioned by a recruitment company (presumably in the hope of generating business) it also raised a big question that many brands encounter, certainly the ones we speak to: how do we structure our marketing departments and what skillsets do we need?

Today there are so many platforms, marketing automation tools and strategies – not to mention traditional media and PR – the list is getting longer and longer. Read the rest of this entry →

Webspace – A new paradigm in online marketing

July 22, 2013 in Content Marketing

Successful online marketing is about building a great website, then promoting it through advertising, optimising it for organic traffic and getting some journalists to write about you, right?

Nope. That’s more like what you do if you have an offline shop.

Online marketing is about optimising multiple properties to function as an interrelated digital ecosystem. I call that a webspace.

Up until fairly recently, online strategy has been dictated by the ‘rules’ of marketing of an offline, pre-internet world. But, due to more digitally savvy marketers gaining senior positions and the sheer volume of data available today to measure success, this is changing. Read the rest of this entry →

May 31, 2013 in Content Marketing , PR , Quad

Quad_final_logo_30_05_2013_Inversedv2 It’s finally here! We’re extremely pleased to unveil our new and improved website.

The launch coincides with an evolution of the existing brand to better reflect our work over the past four years leading the content marketing space in the UK and beyond.

The new site will act as a hub for the overall Quad webspace. It will also provide a platform for our insights into the changing digital marketing landscape and showcase some of the agency’s work on behalf of our clients

As part of Quad’s overall rebrand, the agency has aligned itself closer to its two online communities, the Online Marketing Network and The Content Creation Collective . The industry-renowned events that we run for both these communities will be promoted across our webspace so keep your eye’s peeled.
